The Massags Network now in Private Beta — You’re invited!

12:15 pm in Announcments by Joshua

I’ve just completed moderating over one hundred registrations that were generated on The Massags Network for the purposes of spam. It’s has been a continual challenge to keep up with an onslaught of registrations that are looking to promote every conceivable thing one might sell online (legal, ethical, family-oriented or otherwise).

I’d already implemented several measures that kept spam out of public view until I was able to moderate it and I’d cut the spam down a lot by making the process impossible to automate, yet still we we’re faced with a fair amount of actual human-driven spam.

One way to solve this problem (while adding value to the community) is to offer participation on The Massags Network by private invitation only. So effective immediately we’re now in ‘private beta’ and you’re invited!

Registered members have full access to the community and are able to invite others to join as well.

Sign up is free. The community is free. And our sacred space can now be spam-free! :)

For now you can request an invite by sending an email to admin [at] massags.com and include the word ‘invite’ in the subject line.

Thanks for reading. I look forward to connecting with you!

Evolve

I’m afraid that I need to temporarily disable further registration on Massags.com

Spam registrations have made management of new registrations a part-time job on it’s own. I’ll be making some adjustments around here to reduce this load and allow me to focus on serving you, the real massage practitioner, better.

In the mean time there will be no registration allowed while I work out a solution. You can, however, still connect on Facebook or Twitter.

Thanks for being here ~

New community feature: Following users

6:18 pm in Announcments by Joshua

Howdy Massags peeps!  Thanks for being here!

Currently in testing here at Massags.com is the ability to follow other users, much like Twitter’s follow feature.  You then can view their activity only as opposed to all user’s activity site-wide.  You’ll find those you follow under ‘Community > Activity

This works nicely with the already enabled @mentions ability built into the framework here, so in a way it’s like our own lil’ personal Twitter network up in here.  I should probably say here that we aren’t in any way related to Twitter.  We bow to their greatness and respectfully hope that our reference to their service doesn’t earn us any legal correspondence.

Please test out the follow ability if you’re so inclined.  You can follow a user from their profile page (which is accessible by clicking their avatar or via the member directory).  So why not follow some of our new members and start connecting?

I’m certain there will be some amazing connections made here.  Thanks for being a part of Massags.com!

We’re making some adjustments around here and haven’t launched yet.  We can’t say a lot except that we can almost guarantee you’re gonna like it.
